Head of the Department, Doctor of Economics and Professor

Strishenets Olena Mykolaivna, Doctor of Economics and Professor, was born on May 9, 1978 in the town ofZalishchyky, Ternopil region. She left a secondary school in 1995 and was awarded with a gold medal for exceptional academic performance there. Then, she completed the Ternopil Academy of National Economy and obtained the Diploma Magna Cum Laude in Specialty of “International Economy” in 2000.

She passed Ph.D. defense on the topic "Trade of Volyn Province of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonweal thin the Period from the Latter Half of the 16th till  of the Mid 18th Century" at the Institute of  the World Economy and International Relations of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2003. She also defended her doctoral thesis on the theme: "The Commodity Form of the Public Production Organization: the Case of Ukraine in the Latter Half of the 17th Century and the Late 18th Century" there in 2011.

She was elected to the Head of the Department of Economics of Lesia Ukrainka Eastern European National Universityin 2011. She has been the Head of the Department of Economic Theory since. Then, she became the Professor of the same Department in 2012.

She teaches the following educational subjects: "Economics" and "Political Economy." She is the author of one monograph, four textbooks, eighty-seven scientific articles and abstracts of various conferences. Her publications concern researches in the way-out field, in particular, problems dealing with the commodity forms, their formation and development in the period of late feudalism in Ukraine and main trends of their implementation in the modern world.

Her research interests include the study of the commodity production and industrial sectors of Ukraine, the domestic and foreign trade in the period of late feudalism and of those countries to which Ukrainian lands belonged at that time. Fundamental principles and research results are set out in the individual monograph "The Commodity Production and Trade in Ukraine" (the Latter  Half of the 17th  and the Late 18th Century), in four study guides, thirty-four articles in special edited volumes and academic periodicals, journals; in theses of contribution reports; scientific reports and proceedings presented at 53 international and national scientific, research and practice, scientific-methodological conferences and symposiums held in Belgorod  (Russia), Chisinau (Moldova), Prague (Czechia), Ukraine (Dnipropetrovsk, Dniprodzerzhynsk, Donetsk, Kyiv, Odesa, Ternopil, Cherkassy, Chernivtsy).
