Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University summed up the results of the «Ambassadors of the Ombudsman in Volyn» project. The event was held on December 19, 2024 at Faculty of Law.
The event was attended by Rector Anatolii Tsos, Dean of Faculty of Law Anton Demchuk, Head of Education Department of Lutsk City Council Vitalii Bondar, Representative of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in Volyn region Yulia Spas, representatives of all educational institutions and students who participated in the project.
«We have gathered you, our dear educators, today for a good purpose of sharing our impressions of the pilot project initiated by the Office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights, in particular our regional representation of the Commissioner in Volyn region together with the Department of Education of Lutsk City Council and Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University named “Ambassadors of the Ombudsman in Volyn”. The project has truly become a legal educational and important one, and other regions have picked it up, in particular Khmelnytskyi and Poltava, where educational lessons are already being delivered according to this scenario. They are conducted by the students of higher education institutions having a law faculty,» Yulia Spas summarised.
From May 13 to 17 and December 16 to 19, educational lessons for senior classes were delivered in the schools of Lutsk and the territorial community. Their goal is to familiarise the students with constitutional rights and obligations, as well as the functions and powers of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights. The lectures were given by first-year students of Faculty of Law of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. The best students who underwent special training were selected for this purpose.
«We have one of the best faculties of law in Ukraine, we are one of the few faculties that has a polygraph, evidence collection areas, a multimedia shooting range and many other laboratories. The issue of cooperation with various public and state institutions is a priority for the University,» said Rector Anatolii Tsos.
Certificates and information stands were also presented to all representatives of the lyceums. Student ambassadors shared their impressions of the trainings and thanked the faculty and the Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights for this opportunity.
