The Working Staff Conference was held at Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University. The public listened to Rector’s report on the work of the University in 2023.
The event was attended by Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Recruitment Yurii Hromyk, Vice-Rector for Educational Work and communication Nataliia Blahovirna, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation Liudmila Yelisieieva, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Economic Development and Project Activities Ihor Chulipa, deans of faculties, teaching staff, employees of the institution.
At the beginning of the conference, Anatolii Tsos noted that we owe all our successes to the team, which had worked and developed the institution for many years.
Honorary thanks from Rector were given to:

– Assistant Professor of Department of Economic and Social Geography Volodymyr Lazhnik;
– Professor of Department of Ukrainian Language and Linguistics Hryhorii Arkushyn;
– Vasyl Pykalyuk, Professor of Department of Human Anatomy;
– Professor of Department of Physical Geography Valery Petlin;
– Professor of Department of Zoology, Volodymyr Ivantsiv;
– Professor of Department of Fine Arts Tetiana Halkun;
– Senior Lecturer of Department of Mathematical Analysis and Statistics Leontii Filozof;
– Ivan Smoliuk, Professor of Department of General Pedagogy and Preschool Education;
– Asssistant Professor of Department of Sports Theory and Physical Culture Yurii Tsiupak;
– Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Mykhailo Kuchinko.
The public also remembered colleagues who passed away in 2023, and soldiers who sacrificed their lives defending Ukraine, and commemorated them with a minute of silence.
Anatolii Tsos gave a speech afterwards, summarizing the results of the University’s work in 2023. «For the second year already, the conference is taking place under martial law. We understand very well that without the victory of Ukraine, there will be no University. Therefore, the first and most important thing we did for the Ukrainian army was to provide aid for the Armed Forces of Ukraine during the year. A recent trip to the front was especially revealing. We handed over 16 drones, batteries, Starlink and other necessary things to our defenders,» said Anatolii Vasyliovych.
The first part of Rector’s report was devoted to volunteer activities, assistance to the defense forces of Ukraine, and support to soldiers returning from the front. Anatolii Vasyliovych emphasized that he did not expect such results from the charity fairs held at the University: «We collected over 300,000 hryvnias.» In addition, Rector thanked each employee for transferring one day’s salaries to the needs of the army. Anatolii Tsos also mentioned the charity marathon for Vyshyvanka Day, where 85 thousand hryvnias were collected, and thanked Iryna Levchuk for the initiative and organization.
«Meanwhile, the main function of the University is to provide educational services and train highly qualified specialists,» noted the head of the Higher Education Institution. Anatolii Tsos spoke about educational and scientific work and the results of this year’s admissions campaign. Thus, Rector drew attention to the number of students, which compared to last year has increased to 11,591 people. He also spoke about 12 new educational programmes at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels.
Separately, Head of Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University mentioned international and project activities. In particular, among the achievements was joining the Alliance of European universities COLOURS, establishing cooperation with higher education institutions of Croatia, Poland, Germany, signing inter-institutional agreements under the Erasmus+ programme.
During the report, Anatolii Vasyliovych talked about the information activities and promotion of the institution on internal resources and social networks, on the pages of well-known mass media in Volyn and Ukraine.
In conclusion, Rector highlighted the positive dynamics of the University in the consolidated rating of higher education institutions of Ukraine, where we took 17th place, improving the previous result by nine positions
The working staff team recognized the performance of Lesya Ukrainka University in 2023 as satisfactory. The conference was moderated by Chairman of the Trade Union Committee, Volodymyr Kravchuk.
