On May 18, 2024, the famous Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko visited Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University.
By the way, Oksana Stefanivna has recently joined the new Supervisory Board of the University. Actually, accompanied by Head of the Supervisory Board, People's Deputy Iryna Konstankevych, the famous writer, literary critic, publicist Oksana Zabuzhko arrived at our higher education establishment.
The guests were received by Rector Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rectors Yurii Hromyk and Nataliia Blahovirna, Rector’s Assistant Tetiana Rospopa, Head of Department of Theory of Literature and Foreign Literature Serhii Romanov. The communication was constructive, the cooperation was outlined in various directions. In particular, Iryna Konstankevych spoke about her vision of the Supervisory Board with Oksana Zabuzhko’s participating.
Rector Anatolii Tsos thanked the famous writer for her cooperation and assistance in publishing the Complete Academic Collection of Lesya Ukrainka’s Works. Vice-Rector Yurii Hromyk aand Professor Serhii Romanov talked about the preparation of the collection of works by Olena Pchilka, and Vice-Rector Nataliia Blahovirna highlighted student initiatives and self-government.
"It is very good that we gathered today. During the conversation, a number of important issues were clarified. In particular, the Supervisory Board functions were recalled. Therefore, we will work together on the development of the University, increasing its role and social significance," Anatolii Tsos concluded the meeting. In addition, he offered Oksana Stefanivna to become an honorary professor at Lesya Ukrainka University and give a public lecture to Lesya’s people.
"The university could play a coordinator role of intellectual efforts not only for Volyn, but also on a wider scale," Oksana Zabuzhko summarised, offered holding thematic workshops, discussions and projects. In addition, Oksana Stefanivna had several suggestions regarding the activities of the Supervisory Board.
