The final stage of the «My LINEAGE» research competition was held at Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security. Besides the faculty, the representatives of Volyn Regional Small Academy of Sciences joined the competition organisation with the partnership support of Department of Youth and Sports of Lutsk City Council, Igor Palytsia’s Fund «Only Together» and Caritas-Spes Lutsk.
The competition of young researchers was held for the first time this year, but the organisers hope that it will become a tradition. More than 46 students from various schools of Volyn region expressed their wish to participate in the competition and research their lineage.
After the opening remarks, the contestants were divided into panel groups to present their projects to the jury including the lecturers and students of the University.
During the day, from beginning to the end of the competition, the participants were supported by Rector Anatolii Tsos, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work and International Cooperation Liudmila Yelisieieva, Dean of Faculty of History, Political Science and National Security Yaroslav Yarosh, Head of Department of Education and Science of Volyn Regional State Administration Nataliia Matviiuk, Deputy Head of Volyn Regional Council Yurii Polishchuk, Director of Department of Youth and Sports of Lutsk City Council Volodymyr Zahozhyi, Director of «Volyn Regional Small Academy of Sciences» Tetiana Mykhaliuk, the representatives of Caritas-Spes Lutsk, and Ihor Palytsia’s Fund «Only Together».
«“My LINEAGE” is an extremely positive, effective and necessary competition with educational, teaching and scientific components. We will hold this contest annually, so we look forward to seeing you again next year. I hope that next year we will meet here in a wider circle, so I ask the participants to inform their friends, acquaintances, and relatives about the contest and come back to us again to continue studying the history of their family,» said Anatolii Vasyliovych.
After that, with competition organisers and partners Rector awarded the authors of the works rated highest by the jury. Thus, Tetiana Hasumiants received the Grand Prix, while Maksym Cheliada and Kateryna Zazhitska received 1st degree diplomas.
Separately, the organisers and guests chose the best work in their opinion and awarded the author. The mentors of the contestants also received awards.
After that, it was possible to learn about the work of Tetiana Hasumiants who presented it «encore». With an almost 100-year-old family towel in her hands, the mother of one of the participants also thanked the contest organisers noting that the knowledge of their history is the weapons that will help the Ukrainian people to persevere. At the end of the finals of the «My LINEAGE» competition, a historical tour of Lutsk was organised for the contestants and their mentors.
