“All Ukraine is our Family, Family”

“All Ukraine is our Family, Family...” – sang Nazariy Yaremchuk, wonderful Ukrainian singer. His song called to join the family celebration,  traditionally hosted by the Document Management and Museum Studies Department of History Faculty.

Of course, family is not just parents, relatives, but also school, higher education institution, colleagues at work. That night senior students of the faculty arranged “Our Family’s Holiday” for freshmen to encourage the young people to participate actively in the life of the faculty, and to introduce teachers and students of senior courses to them.

Iana Lohvinova and Vasyl’ Luhvyshchuk, the party hosts, shared the secrets of student life with the present freshmen and gave them useful advice to follow during their five years of study.

After that, Andrii, the fifty-seven group monitor, reported on a secret organization at the Department – the FBI. Its agents are teachers of the Department of Document Management and Museum Studies, and its head is Svitlana Havryliuk, DSc, Professor and Department Chair. The speaker told in detail in which areas the special agents carry out investigations, research and examinations.

Finally, a series of contests on knowing Ukrainian songs and traditions was held with three groups of the first-year students. The young people were showing their ability to think logically, collectively painted a portrait of their curator and had fun. The winners received sweet prizes, and the audience was rewarded with cheerful mood.

After the ceremony of passing under rushnyks (embroidered towels), the freshmen took the student oath and were accepted as the new members of a large and friendly Family of the Document Management and Museum Studies Department.
